Had a couple of good meetings in the morning, then down to Taunton for more disappointment.
What is it that we like about sport, we want our team to win, we want the games to be close, giving us an exciting finish, but we want our team to win. Tonight we had it all, after a poor start Pete hit a good 79, its great to see the boy from Weston-super-Mare play a winning innings. A final score of 185 was only average for Taunton, and with Gibbs in the Glamorgan team, we were not confident.
With 10 overs to go I was sure we would lose, with 7 overs, I was starting to think we could do it, Thomas and Suppiah bowled exceptionally well, to reduce push the run rate up over 15 per over, then Blackwell was taken for 17 off the 17th over, 1 more great over from Thomas meant 21 from the final over, and Langer brought on young Mark Turner who had been tonked earlier in the game, and there was still the spectre of Gibbs. But fair play to the young lad, he bowled dot, wicket, single and we had won! Go Markie!
Again it means we have hope, yes we will need to win at least 5 of the last 6 games, but that’s what sport is about, that is why we watch it, follow it and put ourselves through the pain, its for the highs, that feeling when someone has done something special, when they have given all, and leave the field with nothing left. As the National winner says, Compete or Die!
