A Happy Birthday

I don’t like working on my birthday, somehow it seems wrong. I was out by 7:30 and did not get back until 18:45, that’s 1 ½ hours of driving and 9 hours of meetings. The day was ok, the meetings went ok, and I think we are making progress. I did however lose my temper with the tech team lead, he is just pathetic, and needs to be removed.

Things got a lot better when I got home, Belle cooked Mexican followed by Black Forest Gateaux, yum. I got some great books and DVD’s, some clothes, a 10 year old bottle of port, lucky me!

Then watched one of my new Doctor Who DVD’s. One I had not seen before, and a good story.

All in all I lovely evening, and WFH tomorrow, then the weekend, woowoo!

2-3, and a PRB

No posting last night, as I was at the Leicester pre-season game. We dominated, and lost to a last minute goal, sound familiar? So take the positives, we were playing a team that played in the premiership last year. On paper (yes I know) it was the hardest game of the season, so play like that get promoted, but as you will see the team needs to improve!

In the first review of the home games this season.

GK – Henderson – 7 (A couple of good saves and not at fault for any of the goals)
RB – Gilbert – 4 (Good going forward, just forgot to go back, out of position for 2 of the goals)
LB – Mattock – 7 (Best game in a Leicester shirt, good going forward, but remembered to track back)
CD – Tunchev – 6 (solid, nothing spectacular)
CD - Hobbs 45 - 4 (Truly auful! Poor back passes, pulled out of position, and never looked comfortable. Will need to improve if he is to get in the first team)
CD - Morrison 45 – 7 (Replaced Hobbs and was much better, confident and in control)
CM - Kishishev 45 - 7 (Full of energy, and drive, a good midfield general)
CM - Wesolowski 45 – 6 (Showed his usual drive, need to calm down)
RW - Adams 45 - 3 (The worst player on the pitch, showed no pace, positional awareness, very rubbish!)
RW - Gradel 45 – 8 (A revolation, pace, drive, beat players, good crossing, will play a key role this season)
CM – Oakley – 6 (Average)
CF - Howard 45 - 5 (Poor, will need to improve and live up to his wages)
CF - Campbell 45 – 6 (You could swap DJ and Fryatt, they both had drive, but are a bit to selfish, needs better awareness)
CF - Fryatt 45 – 6.5 (You could swap Fryatt and DJ, they both had drive, but are a bit to selfish, needs better awareness, did score a spectacular goal)
CF - Chambers 45 – 7 (Pace and position, and awareness, could be his season)
LW - Dyer 64 – 4 (Another poor performance from a new signing)
LW - Porter 36 – 6 (He got the biggest cheer returning after his injury at Chelsea last year, looked tentative in the tack, but scored a cracking goal)

Today was back to normal, more complaints, the first PRB and limited prep for tomorrow (I need another 3 days this week!)

What a strange catch!

Tonights cricket had a catch taken, then because momentum would have taken him over the boundary he through the ball to another fielder, who caught it! Wow, what quick thinking, very clever!

What is the definition of an Icon?

What is the definition of an icon? Today we lost something, something that I never valued, and would have always thought it would be better without it, but I am not sure.

The news described it as an iconic view, lets be honest, it was a dump, it was part of the low cost tat that mares my home town. If I was confident that something better, phoenix like would rise, but I expect it will become another plot on the coast, like Burbeck and the Tropicana.

I want my home town to be more than a poor mans Blackpool, a Monaco for the West Country. It would be good to expect that this is a trigger for something better, but……..

So what do you do when your roots have dissolved and broken down, in some broken town, when you list all the buildings that you despise, and you realise, its gone.

I done no why I am sad, maybe its just because it was always there, I have only ever been on it once, and would never have gone on it again, but…………….

The town is not the pier, but I don’t know what it is.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/somerset/7529611.stm

So this is a challenge to the idiots that run my home town. Get off your backsides and for once do something, use this as an opportunity to do something better. The council is run by a group of talentless, lazy, morons, both chief officers and counsellors alike. So for once in your lives earn your 6 figure salaries, go out get funding, and make the place something better, something to be proud of. And if you cant, get out of town!

Long Hot Days and a Dark Knight - The Weekend in 1 Blog

It was the weekend before my birthday, and all through the house no breeze was blowing, not even a mouse.

Mum and Lizsara came down for the weekend, and we had a full couple of days.

It started with dinner on the patio, followed by drinking and talking in the conservatory until 02:30! That was to catch-up with us all!

Saturday was brunch, then Karting, dinner and a film, and Sunday was garden centre, blind buying, blind changing, and roast pork.

As I type I can still feel the strain in my shoulders, my right wrist and left ankle from Karting. It was a fun filled hour; we split the hour into 20 mins warm up and two mini sessions / races. It was great to have a track for just the three of us. So how did you fantasy drivers do?

Mum

Was quite slow really, she did a fastest lap of 50 seconds, and trundled round, not what we were expecting at all. She sat out the other 2 sessions because of a shoulder injury, but enjoyed watching us racing!

Lizsara

Some people say she only drinks fruit juice and vampires read books about her, we just know her as Baby Sis! Clearly the fastest with a best lap of 34.9 seconds, but was a bit untidy, spinning 4 times, all at the same corner, which in the tradition of Topgear is now called ‘Liz can’t go round the bend’. She also managed to prove to ‘catching is one thing, overtaking is another.’

The Jester

Sessions 1 was great, quickly into a groove, and I did 4 more laps than anyone else in the 20 mins slot.

Session 2 started with me spinning on the first corner, and LizSara spinning in sympathy, unfortunately she got away before me, and I had 15 mins of watching her move a couple of meters a lap further ahead!

Session 3 and again LizSara started behind, but she was so close I could not see her when I turned around. So it was into Prost mode, just be clean and tidy, take a central line through the corners and she if she can get past under braking. And the pressure told, she span going into her corner to hot, she will claim it was because of my racing line, but…………., and then span again all by herself at the same corner. That meant I lapped her!!! But she was again on my tale, until, yup you’ve guessed it, she span for the 4th time. So honours even, she is faster, I am tidier, next time we need a bigger track, and we will see who win!

So then back home, for much needed showers and changes of clothes and importantly to collect Belle. Then off to Mk for a meal (Tapas) followed by a film. The food was great, although I was very tired, after a very late night.

So Dark Knight, how would I rate it?

It was a good film; it had some very disorientating film movement, especially in the fight scenes where it moved in a very elliptical way. It was a bit long, and I am not convinced that it need both the Joker and Harvey Dent, you could have run the same plot without bringing Two Face in.

So Heath Ledger, Oscar or not? Well if he does there is a danger that it will be the ‘because he died’ award, when actually he played a great part, got the balance just right, and created a character that could have played again, if he hadn’t died. The make-up was phenomenal, and the use of his tongue was such a good touch. I don’t watch enough films to say he should win, however for what it is worth, I would give it to him.

I must say I am not convinced by Christian Bale (not Slater, as someone said to me); he was out acted, by a mile, and just didn’t do it for me. Also there is the voice of Batman it’s just too low and gravely (although I find it strange to agree with the good Dr).

All in all, it was a good film, and a nice night out. Back by 23:30 and bed, I needed some sleep, although it was still very hot!

Sunday was a bit more relaxed, a bit of shopping for bark, but not just any bark, but mini bark, that made it harder to find. Also a new blind for the library, which after 2 tries still needs changing as it came with no fittings.

I also got to open some presents early, which was great, a shirt, a t-shirt, some 10 year old port and a portable digital radio, THANKS!

Lunch was nice, Taste the Difference Pork, but it did make me sleepy again.
So a bit more rest then its back to another week of work

2 days in one season

Sorry for nothing yesterday, someday the muse is just not with you?

Today has been so many more complaints, you wonder if you will every get things sorted? But you have to believe, I know we can do it, it will just take time.

There are some significant votes of confidence today, which will help through the rough patches. I know I can fix it, just not sure how many people will survive the ride.

And that is the problem really that balance between caring and delivering. It is going to be hard decision time, we / I will be putting people in difficult positions. I hate that, I don’t want to trash peoples lives, but I work for KKR, I work for the share holders, I must do my best and the best by those who have invested, so family, mortgage, schools fees, lives, has to be excluded. I just / hope someone is prepared to see my reflection in a mirror as I pass by!?

Why would you go to Soil Hull?

A frustrating day really, a pointless meeting with no agenda, no actions and very little achieved other that some posturing by middle aged women. I have more important thinks to do that sit through some oestrogen replacement session. All this meant working through emails until 20:00 to catch up.

Managed to get home, by 16:50 and watch the Somerset game on tele. A great innings by Tresco, but poor batting by the rest of the team. We should have exceeded 300, but came up short.

What a moron! Umpire Holder, in the Somerset game, has just taken our bowler off, for bowling a bouncer! If the game was closer this could be an issue, fortunately we are home by a mile. But how can this be allowed, understand the rules, or sod off out of our game!

Off to HQ tomorrow, for a day of learning about systems (hopefully), HR and Finance, will be interesting to see what mood I am in tomorrow!

How can a day of admin be good.

So it was the day of the great re-scoping and it went well, some free thinking, well some people who could expand their thoughts when they were told to! We have what looks like a solution, and the client is happy!

It was interesting, I was sitting in the meeting (10:00 – 16:00 – Drip, that is because of techies!), but other than needing to listen to the conversations and steer, I was able to catch up on e-mails and arrange about 20 meetings, inc the induction program for PASH.

All in all a good day, which is good as it is Soilhul tomorrow, then a full day in Hemel on Thursday. No doubt the inbox will be full again come Friday. Oh well at least I have a relaxing weekend with more visitors.

Monday, 21 July 2008

So the week begins

So a quiet weekend, in that I couldn’t be bothered to write anything.

Had a successful Saturday shopping, finally found some trousers that I like and that fit, woo, woo. Sunday seemed to drift by, without doing much. Needed to sort the library (again), by creating some space for new arrivals!

Today was PSOR II and just to please my wife and sister it was only a 5 hour meeting. Still have some challenges with the team, and a small bust up over appointments made without my sign off. I so need to remove some heads, in the FTE sense!

Managed to leave the office just after 18:00 so I was home by 18:45, tea at 20:00, and a long relax in a quiet house.

Friday, 18 July 2008

Thank Crunchie…………….

Its been a long week, and in some ways frustrating. I have addressed a number of point issues and resolved several customer complaints, however I am not getting the time to push forward with the business improvement stuff.

I was so tired last night I was asleep before belle had finished her shower, that never happens, and I fell asleep on the train into the big smoke this morning.

Generally today went well, more complaints resolved, better understanding of the businesses problems. I do really need a weekend tho.

So its sleep, sport, and some shopping, ready for another full week, next week, where at least I get 1 day in my office!

Remember tiredness kills

I cant remember ever being so tired when driving. I had to stop at the services and rest for 15 minutes!

To much driving, to many late nights, need some sleep tonight!

Off to yet another London Borough tomorrow morning, oh joy!

I am starting to feel like I need a holiday, not sure what I can sort, but need something before Christmas….

Had a good into meeting with my new, new team and they look like they have lots of good ideas.

Some strange staff management decisions today, that again highlights the gap in skills some of my team have. Hay ho I am sure we will get there.

Roll on the weekend.

Solutions Design

So as we all know if you want a system to provide end user delight you need solutions design. An alternative is to just hope for the best and then complain if you don’t get it. So into the Lions den, with no system knowledge, but with a good tech back-up and 3 hours later an accepted route forward based on best practise.

My financial suggestions have all been accepted, and we are close to a way forward to future projections.

Follow that up with a good conversation around the shape of the future organisation and it should have been a good day.

But it wasn’t!

Customer Care and Numbers

What do you do when you have a £350k gap and somewhere between £0 and £14m to fill it. The answer is play with excel it can answer any question and deliver a solution that is perfect. It may take 6 hours, but it is worth it.

So 2 customer visits, 2 happy customers, this is easy, if only delivering the promises were so easy.

The new recruit will be with us on the 18th August, perfect. I am so looking forward to adding him to the mix, he will make a real difference, just hope the final two are ok. Its like the last Cylon, only we know who they are just not the outcome!

Also got some great feedback today, which always make life better. My team not only like me, but have feed the fact back to my boss, cant be bad!

Off to customer number 3 tomorrow, and London for the first time in ages, should be fun, really problems to solve this time!

Anyway time for bed, as Zebedee would say, the prev.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It was just one of those days

When the mind strays
One of those days
When everyone plays
One of those days
When everyone stays
And all of the dreaming goes on

When there are ways you want to approach things, it sometimes comes hard when you have to go against the grain. The differentiator between those who can, and those who say, is delivering. Today has been one of those days, failure to deliver leading to long term decisions about people, jobs and approach. I will not tolerate mediocrity when people are prepared to take the cash. Step up or step out. Some people have voted with their brains or lack there of.

This week I now have 3 customer visits, what a joke.

I need a 1:1 to get some big decisions made.

On a positive note, the in-laws have arrived and we had a great evening chating and eating and generally having a good time. Nice good (if I say so myself, although I need a way to find more juice for Summer Puddings), nice wine (I love the 2004!), and a general chilled approach.

I need to find a way to address the volume of work, as I can process more than most, but if I cant create the time to follow up with management instructions then we are screwed!

I love this job, it needs me, and only I can deliver! I am great!!!!!!!!

Why I am tired after the weekend

You know when it is going to be a long week, and therefore for some reason you don’t sleep at all well.

Well Friday night was like that (about 3 hours), and then so was last night (about 6 hours), if I don’t get 8 hours at least a few times per week, I am dead, so next week could be fun.

So Hampton Court – Up at 7:00 on a Saturday (that’s just wrong), and in the car by 8:00, at the park and ride for 9:50, although would have been quicker without the matrix boards (more later), bus into Moseley (why the bus doesn’t run to the gate is anyones guess?), and then boat to the show ground (Yep got Belle on a boat). Luckily it was flat as a pancake so we survived.

That meant we were at the show for about 10:30, and it was packed. The design of the layout is just wrong, show gardens by the entrance (things that people want to see), and then more show gardens scattered across the site. Surely the logic of shop layout should have applied (that being stuff that most people want at the back so they have to walk past the rest of the stock). I would have put all the sale sites, stalls etc at the front, then a mix of food and show gardens, that way everyone spreads out away from the entrance, you can eat and see what you really came for, and then as you shop on the way towards the exit you don’t have as far to carry plants (rather than the full length of the site, which was what we had). The gardens were interesting, some were great, others weird, and some just rubbish, but on the whole you came away wishing you had more space. If I have a spare £30k, I would get a bronze Elephant, a couple of Giraffes and some large sandstone balls, I would then need a new and much bigger garden to put them in.

I took loads of photos (3 above) and will post more, when I can work out how to do it without taking 5 minutes per picture!

All in all we spent about 7 hours there, and it was really nice just to wander around together, with no deadlines. More boats and buses back to the car, and after stopping at Sainsbury’s home by 19:00 exhausted.

So after all that Sunday should have been a day of rest (I like that, maybe I could patent it?), but no, up at 10:00 and by 13:00 we have made summer and bread and butter pudding, topped a cottage pie, cleared the conservatory, moved the clothes out of the purple bed room, and been to the garden centre for soil and grit. And still no time for a rest, Belle spent the afternoon digging, planting and potting, whilst I had to restructure / cost review, and review the rolling 9 month divisional forecast. So its now 19:30 and time to put tea on, make Belle’s lunch and breakfast, then eat and crash on the sofa.

So to the much expected Matrix Boards rant.

Matrix boards create congestion, they do not reduce it, they are correct for less than 50% of the time, and yet everyone follows them. They are even worse on the M25 or M42 where they also have camera’s attached so when you know they are wrong you still have to follow them! So we crawled along at 45 (because the board said 50!) and I got cross! I would welcome any comments from people who thing these are good things and add to the quality of our lives……………..

A long day full of flowers

So Hampton Court, it was very interesting, very busy, very wet under foot, but no rain.

For some reason I had about 3 hours sleep last night and some am soooooooo tired.

I will write a full review of the day, including some comments on matrix boards tomorrow, when I have had a good nights sleep.

WFH, new recruit, and cost savings

Lizsara, she of the bionic yoghurt listed the things she loved today, and I thought if an idea is good steal it!

Things I love, list

Belle, family (well some), books, my ipod, live music, my car, history, travel, sport, the feeling when you win, wine, cold water, hugs on the sofa, noisy kisses, lie-ins. The last cuddle before going to sleep, pork pie, Chinese food, sci-fi, writing, succeeding, driving, arriving home, my bed after being away, chatting with friends, solving problems………………..

Today has been another WFH, but far less successful, I have done loads, but there is so much more to do. Most of the complaints are now under control, and we are making some progress.

Need to do some re-structuring this weekend, save money and make things better?!?

Good news on the appointment stakes today, got a good candidate for my PMTL role, whoop, whoop as the new recruit would say.

Off to Hampton Court flower show tomorrow, so lots of walking and hopefully not to much buying!

A late Thursday

Thursday ended up being 11 hours in the office, which mad for a long day.

Managed to break the back of the complaints, and made more progress with planning, and hopefully after working from home on Friday I will feel on top of things again.

A rewarding day

What a difference it make to your day when you feel like you have made a difference!

I have resolve two sales issues, pushed not just PS, but all our forecasting forward, and addressed a staffing issue.

I am buzzing, I need to feel like I make a difference, that I am achieving something that would not have happened without me, and today has delivered that. Added to which some great news which I cant reveal at the moment, but is just phenom!

Belle was home from her works meal earlier that expected which meant we have 3 hours together before bed.

And my forecast got accepted unchanged!

Today is a smiley day!

Forecasting blind

Another mixed day, I spent the morning working from home, and had a really productive time. I managed to clear almost ½ of my TTD which was great. Then (because the office is so close) I was able to have lunch and jump in the car and be in the office 45 minutes later!

The afternoon we meant to be reviewing the forecast, what a joke, nothing was finished, so I am now expecting the docs tonight about 10:30, and it need to be ready first thing tomorrow, fun, fun, fun!

I have come to the conclusion that to many people only answer the question you asked them, and apply no thought to expanding their answer to provide you with the information you need. So still lots to do, but each day of learning is one day closer to fixing!

Monday, 7 July 2008

Money, Money Money

So how hard is it to follow this simple process:

1) Resource bookings
2) Only forecast bookings that are resourced
3) Complete process by working day 4
4) Continue on a rolling basis
5) Do the above and only the above!

If you answer a simple then I have a job for you!

Yet another day of disappointment.

So we have another approach, we will get it right, but there are sure to be casualties!

Had a nice drive in the Jag today, very wet on the way up, but dry on the way home, in has a very long pedal, and is very different to mine, but still great fun. Had my car serviced and new tyres and came in £15 below forecast, hooray!

Home made cannelloni for tea, with garlic bread and rocket, followed by eaton mess, with raspberries!

Am I escaping when I relate?

So after yesterdays tears it made me thing about why fiction can be upsetting. In a world of practical requirements, financial demands, responsibility for the well being of staff and citizens, the opportunity to become absorbed in a world were you are a voyeur is very appealing. But why do I become so consumed?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t thing I am the Doctor, or Helikaon, of McLeod, or Jon Shannow, or Druss, or any of the other people that live in the stories I love, but I can relate to them. They live how I would like too, they have the values I aspire too. So when bad things happen I feel how I would feel.

My passion and drive, is reflected in the people I relate too, I can’t imagine not ever being able to see Belle again, or losing my memory, being alone or not being able to protect the ones I love.

So is relating, escaping, I don’t think so, it in fact heightens your understanding, and make you focus on what is important. If the cost of being true to myself is a few tears, then so be it.

On a lighter note, the final Cider tasting.

Westons – Premium Organic Cider – 6.5% - Herefordshire

So what does organic taste like, the true is this is no different to other fizzy ciders, in fact it is a bit disappointing. I had hoped for more apple, but it just not there, the fizzy over powers the taste with an unnecessary gassy taste. It is the last in this taste test, and just does not match up.

So the final lists rankings are:

Overall

Poire – St Helier Pear Cider – 5%
2006 Vintage – Henney’s - 7%
Bulmers Original – 4.5% - Herefordshire
Katy – Thatchers – 7.4%
Frome Valley – Henney’s Dry Cider – Herefordshire – 6%
Westons Vintage Special Reserve – 8.2%
Westons – Premium Organic Cider – 6.5% - Herefordshire
Kopparberg Pear – 4.5% - Swedish
Kopparberg Cider with mixed fruit– 4.0%

And it’s the Pear that takes it, in the apple contest the Henney’s vintage is excellent, but for a refreshing summer time drink, the pear has it.

Game, set and what a match.

It has been billed as a great day for British sporting events, the Men’s Final at Wimbledon and the Grand Prix at Silverstone (see Fusecar league link).

I have not watched much of this years tennis, in truth I have not watched much tennis since it became more about power, and less about touch. But today’s final had it all, how often is a Man U v Chelsea or Liverpool v Arsenal match a disappointment as they cancel each other out? Well not today, the numbers 1 and 2 in the world, brought the best out of each other. Yes there was some phenomenal power, but it was directed perfectly. There was touch, flare and that never say die that always appeals to me. It was the best game I have ever seen! I suggest we forget about the other rubbish and just have these two playing 1 game at each grand slam!

Saturday, 5 July 2008

Was it meant to make us cry?

Saturday, and some shopping, some rest, F1 qualifying, some skybox and some cider.

Frome Valley – Henney’s Dry Cider – Herefordshire – 6%

Its almost a scrumpy, but not quite, it has a fresh taste with a gentle fizzy, and a memory of the rougher stuff, but not the chewy taste from Somerset’s finest. It leaves wanting to drink more, not to gassy, a low apply taste, and not over dry, it does not have the moisture removing elements of a dry champagne, but is gently and refreshing. Not a winner, but if you like dry cider you could do a lot worse.

BREAKING NEWS – Watch out tomorrow for the final review and the finishing places.

There was also some facebook scrabble, and my highest ever score – 468 wow. That is not even close to the world record score of 830!

http://www.slate.com/id/2152255/?GT1=8702

Then the last 2 episodes of this seasons Dr Who.

Warning if you have not watched the last episode of doctor who this will be a spoiler.

Russell T Davies has a lot to answer for, and if you believe my wife the T stands for Twat! He has driven rough shod over the history, and baseline of a classic of our childhoods. He has rebuilt Cybermen, making them man made rather than having a home planet, we have a new history where the Timelords and Daleks have been wiped out, the Doctor is the only one left, except we have the Master, then we have multiple Dalek episodes, and now Davros is back, the Daleks reborn, and then he messes with re-generation process. Yes he brought the program back, but if it is not true to the epoch, then what was the point, so today he leaves and is it better or worse, was this a story true to what we remember, or true to the new core.

There is disagreement about the merit of RtD’s new core, for the soft romantic in me there is something that grips me, no matter that it is not the realm I have lived with as a child, love is something that plays to the pleasure pain part of me. For my wife she holds only to the true epoch, the original waylander.

I like the concept of everyone together, and that it is not the hero’s that save the day, but the doppy human, the temp from Chiswick.

And so it ends with a Dalek with a sole, the Dalek saved by Rose, gained some humanity, and delivered the salvation of the Universe. Yet where has the Doctor who had the power to destroy the Daleks before they were createdg one, replaced by one who has now committed genocide. From the hero with a heart he has become the destroyer of worlds!

(Freaky, I right this and as I write the quote, the destroyer of worlds, taken from J Robert Oppemheimer, Davros said that same!)

And so the twist, the human element of Rose, saved humanity and the human element of the Doctor killed the Dalek race, and Donna died………………….

Because you are the sum of your experiences, lose those and what do you have? Is life without knowing better than death at the end of a journey?

So ultimately RtD wrote a multi-episode love story, over all boundaries, nothing could stop love. I know Belle will not agree, but if you forget all the things he broke, and just placed the key episodes in order, you get a cracking story.

So the Waylander walks out into the wet night, yet again alone, separated from his love for the good of all, destined to be but a truly alone.

As M2 and I discussed the other night it is no way to be. Love is what holds us together. So I am going for a cuddle with Belle, Sci-Fi is not meant to make you cry!

In at the deep end!

A 9am SMT conference call, and before I know it I doing todays staff briefing, and it went really well (well I think it went well). There were about 40 staff, and I was able to answer most of the questions, and talk knowledgably about the strategy. Just goes to show, be confident and carry a big stick and you can get away with anything!

The drive home was typically Friday traffic filled, and I was so tired I need to open the windows. I am so tired, so off to bed, promise to write more over the weekend.

After hours

Bristol was interesting, far more vocal group of staff. Then a productive meeting with 2 of my managers. We have a way forward, that will either work, or will result in people leaving the business.

Then onto a great evening. Spent the night at one of my friends, who I have not seen for ages. We had Chinese, 3 ½ bottles of wine and talked until 4am, it was really great. We have not talked like that for years, the change of jobs, company etc has removed a level of noise.

Not sure that 4am was a good idea, as we both had work, but the time just flew by, it did make Friday a nightmare tho!

Expecting Perfection

So, after two days of sole searching wondering why my team cant deliver, today was a reality check. 1) This has been broken for years & I have only been here 4 weeks, 2) I am the best at what I do, I didn’t miss the number, we the team missed the number, 3) I have a plan, I have 2 managers in Bristol tomorrow, where I will set some very clear objectives.

I have also had a very positive conversation with the boss, which shows he understands what I am trying to do. He has also shown he trusts me. So therefore I am going to go for it. Don’t get in the way, there is a fully charge director coming through!

So off to Bristol tomorrow, then M2’s for dinner and o/n which will be will be great, as I have not seen him for ages, or got him to myself. The Worcester and some structure planning.

So self doubt behind me, and off we go, next stop re-shaped business, real delivery, quality of service, quality of deliver, and a business to be proud of. This is a going to become a results business!
