Was it meant to make us cry?

Saturday, and some shopping, some rest, F1 qualifying, some skybox and some cider.

Its almost a scrumpy, but not quite, it has a fresh taste with a gentle fizzy, and a memory of the rougher stuff, but not the chewy taste from Somerset’s finest. It leaves wanting to drink more, not to gassy, a low apply taste, and not over dry, it does not have the moisture removing elements of a dry champagne, but is gently and refreshing. Not a winner, but if you like dry cider you could do a lot worse.

Russell T Davies has a lot to answer for, and if you believe my wife the T stands for Twat! He has driven rough shod over the history, and baseline of a classic of our childhoods. He has rebuilt Cybermen, making them man made rather than having a home planet, we have a new history where the Timelords and Daleks have been wiped out, the Doctor is the only one left, except we have the Master, then we have multiple Dalek episodes, and now Davros is back, the Daleks reborn, and then he messes with re-generation process. Yes he brought the program back, but if it is not true to the epoch, then what was the point, so today he leaves and is it better or worse, was this a story true to what we remember, or true to the new core.

There is disagreement about the merit of RtD’s new core, for the soft romantic in me there is something that grips me, no matter that it is not the realm I have lived with as a child, love is something that plays to the pleasure pain part of me. For my wife she holds only to the true epoch, the original waylander.

I like the concept of everyone together, and that it is not the hero’s that save the day, but the doppy human, the temp from Chiswick.

And so it ends with a Dalek with a sole, the Dalek saved by Rose, gained some humanity, and delivered the salvation of the Universe. Yet where has the Doctor who had the power to destroy the Daleks before they were createdg one, replaced by one who has now committed genocide. From the hero with a heart he has become the destroyer of worlds!

(Freaky, I right this and as I write the quote, the destroyer of worlds, taken from J Robert Oppemheimer, Davros said that same!)

And so the twist, the human element of Rose, saved humanity and the human element of the Doctor killed the Dalek race, and Donna died………………….

Because you are the sum of your experiences, lose those and what do you have? Is life without knowing better than death at the end of a journey?

So ultimately RtD wrote a multi-episode love story, over all boundaries, nothing could stop love. I know Belle will not agree, but if you forget all the things he broke, and just placed the key episodes in order, you get a cracking story.

So the Waylander walks out into the wet night, yet again alone, separated from his love for the good of all, destined to be but a truly alone.

As M2 and I discussed the other night it is no way to be. Love is what holds us together. So I am going for a cuddle with Belle, Sci-Fi is not meant to make you cry!
